St Fagans National Museum of History — E・M・O・S・I・W・N

Hello, everyone! I hope you’ve been well and are getting ready to welcome the New Year? I’m terribly sorry I've not posted anything over the last month but we have been so busy taking part in Christmas craft fairs. One of them was the third Ichi Artisan Winter Market 2019 organised with the founder of Ichi, a papercut artist and illustrator, Mari Wirth. Despite the awful weather, we had a great number of visitors thanks to our fantastic local artists and makers as well as our many wonderful supporters and collaborators.

皆様こんにちは。お元気ですか？大変ご無沙汰しております。EMOSIWNの2019年クリスマスフェアを無事に全て終え、久しぶりの投稿です。5つ参加したフェアには、切り絵アーチスト、イラストレーターのまりさんと一緒に主催している三度目のIchi Artisan Marketも含まれていました。お陰様で悪天候にも関わらず大変盛況となりました。

St Teilo's Church [ Llandeilo Tal-y-bont, Glamorgan, late 12th century ]

Mari and I had a meeting to review this year’s event at St Fagans National Museum of History, which is one of the most renowned open-air museums in Europe. There are lots of historic buildings dating from the Iron Age up to the modern period, situated all over the vast site. The buildings are moved from their original sites around Wales and rebuilt exactly as they were at St Fagans to preserve them for the future and to tell visitors how people in Wales lived in the past. I hope you enjoy my black and white photography of some of the wonderful buildings there. The information in the brackets after the building name are the original locations of the buildings or archaeological excavations as well as the original dates of the buildings.

とは言え、まだまだ課題も多く、まりさんと一緒に市内の国立史跡博物館を歩きながら反省会や来年のプランニングなど色々と話しを進めました。旧ブログでもご紹介したセントファーガンス国立史跡博物館は、ヨーロッパでも有数の野外博物館で、広大な敷地内にウェールズ中からそっくり移築された建物が鉄器時代から現代に至るタイムラインで点在。未来の人々へ昔のウェールズ人の暮らしを物語っていく役目を担う存在です。イギリスの博物館や美術館のほとんどは入場無料なので、地元の人達には散歩コースとしても利用されているよう。今日は先日撮ったモノクロ写真をご紹介致します。
