Hello! Continued from the April report, here is a seasonal photo journal for May.
皆様こんにちは。前回に引続き、本日は5月編 季節のフォトジャーナルをお届け致します。
COUNTRY WALK JOURNAL
The above photos were taken in the Rabbit Hole where I found fields of snowdrops in February. The area had been covered with mud and it finally got dry enough to walk easily around mid May.
All over the UK, it’s the season of bluebells and wild garlic flowers. Spanish species with lighter blue or lilac colours stood out in the village this spring but in the woodlands, native flowers with deeper blue were found.
上の写真は二月にスノードロップの群生を発見したラビットホール。この一帯は春先までずっと泥濘んだままで、ようやく少しずつ足下が歩きやすくなってきました。
イギリスではこの時期、ワイルドガーリックの花やブルーベルとが咲き乱れます。今年目立っていたのは、スペイン種の薄い青や淡いライラック色。森の中ではイギリス原産の深い青色が広がっていました。
At the end of the regular weekend local walk, there is an area called Forest of Heron ( I just named it so just for us.), where the beautiful elegant birds can be observed.
週末地元での散歩コース最後に ”鷺の森” と名付けた一帯で、彼らの優雅な姿を観察できます。

DAYS OUT JOURNAL
Chris found a lovely Sunday Market just outskirts of Glasgow and now it’s one of the activities we enjoy on the weekends. It’s held at the chateau-like Hunting Lodge built 270 years ago located in Chatelherault Country Park, which site has 500-acre woodlands. The market offers street food, fresh local produce or artisan crafts.
We normally go for a walk after grabbing breakfast from the market. There are some trails around the site and once you enter the woods, you can only hear birdsong and meet few people except the locals who are walking their dogs.
4月から時々グラスゴー近郊のサンデーマーケットへ出かけるようになりました。東京ドーム43個分のChatelherault カントリーパークの敷地内、270年前に建てられたお城の様なハンティングロッジの一角ががマーケットなっていて、ストリートフードを中心に、近郊の様々な名産や工芸品を売っています。
私たちはそこで朝ごはんを食べた後、森でハイキングを楽しむのが恒例。コースはいくつかありますが、どこも一歩森の中に入れば、犬の散歩に来ているローカルの人達と数人すれ違う程度。鳥の歌だけが静かな森に響きます。
A fascinating stone structure, Duke’s Monument suddenly appears in the deep forest. It was built to commemorate the 11th Duke of Hamilton in 1863. The name of the town around the site is after his name, Hamilton.
森の中に突然現れる19世紀に建てられた第11代ハミルトン公爵の記念碑。このカントリーパークの位置する町名もハミルトンとなっています。
The pigeon coop can be seen far from the shade of the tree. Welsh poppy is one of the spring wild flowers we can see all over the UK.
木陰から遠くに見えるのは、鳩小屋。といっても立派な家 !! ウェールズポピーもこの季節イギリスで良く見かける花。

Artichoke Tart
Puff pastry lined with lots of fresh home grown thyme, garlic and lemon zest covered in gouda and emmental cheese, artichokes and parsley with oven roasted tomatoes seasoned with hickory smoked salt and balsamic drizzle served with rosemary jelly and pea shoots fresh from the garden
たっぷりのﾀｲﾑ、ｶﾞｰﾘｯｸ、ﾚﾓﾝｾﾞｽﾄをﾀﾙﾄ生地に敷き、ｺﾞｰﾀﾞﾁｰｽﾞ、ｴﾒﾝﾀｰﾙﾁｰｽﾞ、ｱｰﾃｨﾁｮｰｸ、ﾊﾟｾﾘを散らして焼きます。ﾛｰｽﾄしたﾄﾏﾄはｸﾙﾐ科のﾋｯｺﾘｰで燻製した塩とﾊﾞﾙｻﾐｺ酢のｿｰｽを少々垂らし、ﾛｰｽﾞﾏﾘｰｼﾞｪﾘｰと庭で採れたてのｽﾅｯﾌﾟｴﾝﾄﾞｳの新芽を添えて。
