Hi everyone, I hope you are all well? We had a quiet week as Chris and I had a cold so I’ll be talking about a little surprise discovery today.
皆様こんにちは。お元気ですか？ クリスも私も風邪を引いてしまって大人しくしていた一週間です。さて、今日は小さな嬉しい発見の話。
The plant in the photo is a Christmas Cactus Chris bought at a nearby super market last year. I had an image for the plant with bright red or brilliant dark pink colour flowers but this one had tender subtle whitish pink ones. I found it so pretty and enjoyed it at my studio window during the season. After a while, all the flowers fell and I’ve been looking after it by watering only when the soil looked very dry. To be honest I wasn’t expecting the plant flower again but to my surprise, it started to show new buds at the tip of each leave; I was delighted to know that the plant was happy.
写真は去年撮影したクリスマスカクタス。クリスが近所のスーパーで見つけてきました。クリスマスカクタスというと、赤や濃い桃色などのイメージがありましたが、淡く優しげなこのピンクがとても可愛らしく、季節の花としてスタジオの窓辺で暫く楽しみました。花が全て落ちた後も、土がカラカラになったら水をあげて、を一年繰り返して世話をしていたら、先週なんと新しい目が吹いてきました。実はあまり期待していなかったので、本当に嬉しかったです。ちゃんと生きていてくれてたんだと思って。
In a Japanese proverb, we say “Sleep and wait for good luck” for “Good things come to those who wait”. Mochi is taking that approach to see new Christmas Cactus flowers this year. By the way, our cats don’t show much interest in this plant, unlike all or others – what a relief that I don’t need to worry about the flowers eaten by the furry gang.
The 24 Seasons is ‘Frost Falls’ and the 72 Micro Seasons is ‘First Frost’.

餅君は大欠伸をしています。果報は寝て待て？ クリスマスカクタスが数週間後には咲いてくれるかな？ ちなみに猫達、この植物にはあまり関心を示さず、ホッとしています。食べられちゃう心配はなさそう。
